Les écrans tactiles capacitifs sont des écrans qui sont sensibles à un contact avec un doigt, ou certains types de stylets.

Ils n'ont pas besoin d'une forte pression, juste d'un contact, ce qui leur procure généralement une plus grande réactivité que leurs équivalents résistifs

Ils bénéficient également d'une plus grande luminosité... En effet, les surfaces utilisées pour fabriquer un écran capacitif n'absorbent que 10% de luminosité alors que celles d'un écran résistif en absorbent 25%.

Les écrans capacitifs sont généralement reconnus comme plus performants que les écrans résistifs, cependant leur (seul) défaut est de ne pas réagir à la pression d'un stylet (hormis certains stylets spécialement conçus pour cet usage)
